Following their wonderful performance at the café in October last year, it's an absolute pleasure to be bringing This is the Kit back for another evening of banjo infused unpretentious folk beauty.

This is the Kit is the musical project of Kate Stables.

In 2006 Rob Da Bank's record label Sunday Best included This Is The Kit's track Two Wooden Spoons in their Folk Off compilation alongside artists including Animal Collective, Tunng and Vashti Bunyan. The band's inclusion in the compilation received high praise from Drowned in Sound who said "its personal touch is largely what makes This Is The Kit the British highlight, not to mention that of the compilation as a whole". Following that Sunday Best went on to release Two Wooden Spoons as a 7" single with the B side Come a Cropper in 2006.

Their most recent album, Wriggle Out The Restless was released by Dreamboat Records in 2010. The album was gestated over a long period and drew on This Is The Kit's many musical friends including Rozi Plain, Jim Barr (bass player from Portishead), Francois and the Atlas Mountains and The Liftmen. The album was produced by long-time collaborator and partner Jesse D Vernon.

MTS Adds SSI Serial Digital Outputs to Temposonics(R) C-Series Embeddable Core Sensors

MTS announces the addition of SSI (Serial Synchronous Interface) to its line of core embeddable magnetostrictive sensors intended for budget-sensitive OEM applications such as tools, desk top devices and consumer goods. SSI offers the advantages of a true digital non-contact continuous position measurement capability at prices that make digital magnetostrictive linear sensors attractive for use in more compact, space-sensitive, OEM product applications. C-Series embeddable core sensors require less space and have a lower budget impact than their larger industrial machinery counterparts because the sensor takes advantage of the host OEM products inherent environmental protection, eliminating housing costs. Whats more, embeddable core sensor elements are produced on fully automated equipment providing consistent, automotive level quality using automation efficiencies.

SSI is a proven communication technique for continuous measurement sensors and has been in the industrial sensors produced by MTS for over 10 years. It only requires a clocking pulse from the OEM controller to get each bit of a 24 bit position count word from the sensor at 400 killobaud up to 50 meters away. Each bit count represents one increment of the 100 micron or optional 50 micron resolution. The update rate is 1500 Hz in binary or optional gray code.

Optional accessory housings for liquid level and high pressure applications are also available.

SSI and analog embeddable core sensors are suitable for use in professional grade woodworking tools, metal forming and automotive tools, personal recreational vehicles, marine pleasure craft, portable medical care and treatment equipment, and other commercial and consumer equipment. Among the many applications that have successfully used MTS core embeddable magnetostrictive technology are steer-by-wire systems, agricultural implement robotics, automotive fluid change tools, two-wheel and four-wheel vehicle suspension tuning and ride enhancement, and medical care, diagnostic and treatment control.

Captains and Classic Chevy to Give Away Chevy Cruzes

The Lake County Captains, class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have partnered with Chevy Network, the Classic Auto Group and Classic Chevrolet as part of the team’s Tenth Anniversary Celebration this season and will give away one (1) twenty-four (24) month lease for a 2012 Chevy Cruze at the team’s home games on both June 3rd and July 1st.

Individuals 18 and over will receive a complimentary entry form upon entry to Classic Park during home games on June 1, June 2 and June 3 for the first Chevy Cruze giveaway on June 3. Fans will receive one entry form for each game they attend, meaning if a fan attends all three games, they will receive three entry forms that can be filled out to enter into the sweepstakes. Individuals over the age of 18 will receive an entry form to complete for themselves if any individuals in their group are under the age of 18 who attend the designated Captains games in person, so a family of four with two children under age 18 will receive four entry forms to be completed by one of the adults.

On June 3, all entry forms must be deposited by fans through the windows of the Chevy Cruze on display at Classic Park to be eligible to win. A lucky entry will be drawn at the conclusion of that day’s game. Fans must be in attendance at the June 3 game to submit their entry form for a chance to win.

The same promotion will be repeated during the Captains home games on June 29, June 30 and July 1, with the second Chevy Cruze twenty-four (24) month lease giveaway taking place at the conclusion of the Captains baseball game on July 1.
